I think it is a little unfair to say that if you dont attend the fitness training, then your chances of playing in tournaments is less than those that do.

If you are having problems keeping up on the field and you havent been attending fitness training then maybe yes, but what happens to those of us who already do their own fitness training during the week anyway?

For example, even before Paintball i train more regularly than most anyway. I go running, go to the gym and train with the army all week and would prefer to stick to my own routine that i am used to. I know its only a day, but that is a day i have to change in my schedule.

that why i have said it is not a MUST

but as a team i think you should attend whenever you can! bounce

gordo ere tu pedaso chupoptera!! lol Very Happy

yeah, I agree it's good to have everyone together for PT training and also understand Stephen's issue - I'm starting to think it's probably better to simply join a gym, maybe we can get a good price if we all sign up to the same gym....

then, everyone can go in their own time...

I agree that improving fitness would improve performance, i.e speed, explosiveness, agility, speed of reaction, supplnessness. I think its a good idea to train your fitness. However, let me advice you guys that going for a jog (however long!) once a week will make no difference to your performance during paintball games. The reason being that for speedball you work anaerobically for 95% of the time, therefore increasing aerobic capacity by going for a jog will have limited impact on your anaerobic capacity.
I would suggest, if you guys are up for it, to arrange once a week at the stadium (there should be free courts), and I can set up some circuit training to exercise anaerobically, then after a few weeks include some plyometric training to work on speed and explosiveness.

Good idea,

it's true that we need to be training short bursts of speed and all... - some of us also need to lose some weight, I speak for myself here .... perhaps we should do this off our own backs and use the valuable time we have with an actual P.Trainer to make the most out of something which will inevitable better our performance on the field....Not saying losing weight won't, but us overweight guys have proved we can keep up with the trimmer one's and even on occasions, run circles around some of the fitters players on the team... grrrrrrrrr

I have mentioned that we should also run a good number of laps before and after each training session ... it gets the blood flowing and will burn off some extra calories... I know it's only once a week but it's meant to be part of a "bigger" training schedule plan... 1 PT Training a week, 1 Paintball Training a week and 1 or 2 other self sessions of approx 35-1hr should be enough to see everyone well and fit....

Weekly sessions should take no longer than 60-70min, that would included aerobic warm-up (20min), followed by 40min of circuit training. I agree that those guys who feel they need to lose some weight should exercise another 2-3 times more a week, I can sort some training schedule for those who want. Also, I can check with with my work (fit 4 life) to see if we can get a special discounted price on 1-2 personal training sessions a week for team members who want it.

Shall we meet up on Monday 12th, say 8-8.30pm at the stadium (by the padel courts)?
I have already set up some circuit training for the first couple of weeks. We shall be having a 30-minute fitness assessment, followed by some light circuit training, which we will gradually build up.

Thanx Ace1981 that sounds awesome, count me in for training at stadium and at the Gym!!

Also Cappy I am willing to go for a run around alameda, but i prefer the structure of a circuit if possible too...

Just to remind you that we will be having our first fitness session 2mo monday, 8pm by the padel courts at the stadium. It wont be much training, as I have planned some fitness tests to measure aerobic and anaerobic capacity, agility and speed, in order to have some baseline measures from which to assess progress!!
I would advice everyone to make it 2mo, it will tke around 45min

I managed to arrange a relatively good deal with Fit 4 life on personal training and use of gym. Prices for personal training would be as follow:

£25 per session for 1-to-1 training
£20 per person per session for 2+

Its over £10 discount per session, and this would include not having to pay for gym use, which is an extra £3 per session or £33 a month.

Also, if you book your session the days im working, you would be getting a 80-90min session instead of 60min (if you can stand 80min of training with me!!!!!)) lol

Not on membership im afraid. Although if I were you I would join the leisure centre Gym at Kings Bastion, it between £15-25 a month. Plus if you need personal training at the leisure centre gym we can sort something out after hours.
